This week, Indiana’s Department of Homeland Security is encouraging Hoosiers to prepare for the cold with Winter Weather Preparedness Week.
The Department reminds Indiana residents that they should always monitor local radio and TV stations, and their social media, for trusted information on weather updates.
Remember that a Watch means winter weather is possible, and Advisory means weather is expected soon but less serious than a Warning, and a Warning means severe winter weather is expected to begin soon.
The National Weather Service says there were 36 deaths in the US last year due to cold weather, so staying safe at home and on the roads and wearing protective clothing is vital to getting through the winter safely.
